Southwark Bridge to Shoreditch

Getting fed up of running the gauntlet from Borough to Kingsland road/ Old st. across London Bridge, so trying to find a way to get to work using the much quieter Southwark Bridge but finding a route seems tough.
Anyone got a good route? I keep getting lost around Cannon st, as almost every lane north is blocked by building works.

    Go over Southwark Bridge, along Cannon Street (either straight up and turn right at the Ped X or wiggle one road east and join from there - I find its 50-50 depending on the lights).Ffollow the road along and then round up Gracechurch Street, all the way to Shoreditch.

    Only downside is from Cannon Street to Shoreditch there are LOTS of traffic lights so it hammers your timings.

    Thanks! Found a way south tonight via Paul St, Moorgate, Bank & Queen st., so the same journey in reverse should be easier now. Think I wasn't going far enough north before turning.
