Buying advice for a Newbie

I'm sure this question has came up a thousand times before so once more won't hurt..

Completely new to cycling and I want to buy a bike for primarily road cycling combined with the odd commute to work but this wouldn't be the primary reason for buying. I envisage myself joining a club further down the line for long road cycles.

Budget wise about £1,000 and I've seen this on offer for £849 in the local store. BTWIN Ultragra 720 AF

Would this be a good buy given the above and also any other recommendations?

Apologies as I'm sure this question is quite repetitive / tedious for the longer term members.

Cheers

Its an amazing deal at £1000 and your getting it at a discount, you wont find anything with better components than that within your budget, most bikes around that price will have tiagra/105. If I was you I would get that bike before someone else buys it.

In case you hadn't seen this already. Boardman looks great if you decide against the BTWIN

Will take a look at the Boardman now too as I've a cycle to work scheme with Halfords who I think supply these!

Go to the store to see if you like it in the flesh and only buy if they have it in the correct size for you.

Couple of great deals on Cubes here. As above though, only any good if they fit you well.
