Broken Caliper Brake

A few days ago I broke a bit of plastic ring on the quick release lever/brake release lever on my caliper brakes and now it won't hold it's position. It vibrates into the open position making me have to pull my brake lever all the way near the handlebars. Any way to fix this?

If it's less than a year old, make a warranty claim? You could get a new caliper free.

Failing that, ask a LBS if they have anything in their parts bin to bodge it?

Last resort, either superglue it in the closed position, or run it open and pull a bit more inner cable through the clamp. Either of these options may mean having to deflate the tyre to remove / insert the wheel.

Or buy a new caliper? Unless you're running Dura Ace they aren't too expensive. If Dura Ace you may be able to source a spare part. Mind you, since it's a broken bit of plastic I'm guessing it's not Dura Ace...
