I thought they may look more beefy in person, but they are more streamline.
Better for downhill racing? I would have thought the bigger knobs, the better.

Bigger knobbles aren't always better. The high roller always had fairly small centre knobbles and bigger side knobbles. It always rewarded aggressive cornering.

    What's your point?

It depends on the conditions and type of surface you're riding on. My Magic Marys are magic in the wet at QECP and FoD, pretty good in to the dry on loose surfaces and significantly less good on bone dry hard pack where the big side nobbles fold over with hard cornering.

I recently picked up some rock razors that have a fast paced central knobble thing going on with some nice and much larger knobs around the edge for cornering they are really impressive. Love em
It matters not, win or lose, it's how you ride the bike

Who cares what they look like? I want tyres which grip and are predictable.
