11 speed front derailleur with 10 speed group

Will a 5800 front derailleur work with a 4700 groupset? 4700/5800 FDs are the same design as far as I understand. Presumably there will be a slight difference in cage width to deal with the small difference in chain width, but will this make any difference to front shifting?

Shouldn't be an issue at all I run a Force 22 FD with a Rival chainset an RD.0

You might have issues in terms of the adjustment. Setting the 5800 front derailleur requires an inline cable tensioner to set it correctly. Without that, you'll constantly have chain rub in the big ring even when on the smallest sprocket. Even with the inline cable tensioner, the adjustment is minimal, so with 10 speed chainrings and chain rather than 11 speed, you may still get chain rub.
SRAM are different in being backwards compatible with their components.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -
Seems to work fine. No set up issues and shifts great. Thanks for the replies.0
