Disk or Rim

I think you've gone beyond the argument I was making with that - my point was pretty simple and that was that if the more ambitious claims for the advantages of discs are true then we should see that if we get a mix of discs and rim brakes in pro races. You say that discs have "far superior" braking which makes a "huge difference" - I hope so and if that's true we will notice it - if we can't then maybe the difference is more marginal.
I disagree with your comment about only the pros riding at the ragged edge - if I were to get a disc braked road bike it'd be precisely because I thought it pushed the ragged edge back a bit - ymmv.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
going on this mornings commute in the heavy rain ......... Rim every time, The noise from my disk brakes was just (1) Plain embarrassing (2) painful ..... the honking under heavy braking was just friggin ridiculous, there is so much crap thrown up from the road the contamination to the pads happens within about 3 miles of riding after cleaning everything up.
HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can only but imagine what a full Peleton descending would sound like !
if it rains next week I am suffering knobbly tires and taking the v-braked MTB0 -
I advocate, therefore I am.Advocate of disc brakes.0
