Banchi oltreXR1 headset

Seem to have developed a squeak from the front end of the bike and only seems to be when out of the saddle,when the bike goes from side to side climbing,guessing it is the headset squeaking.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial for checking the bearings as I am keen to start my own maintenance now I have a decent bike.
