Rotor Q or Qxl??

Just changed the crankset on my bike and want to go back to Q rings as I really liked them.
I'm tempted to try the Qxl this time but worry they might be too extreme for my sportiff road bike. Be likely to run 52 -36.
I'd really appreciate any feedback from those that have experience with both
Thanks

I've not tried qxl but big fan of Q-rings. Rotor have a good table somewhere that shows a comparison between the two by type of rider.
But if it ain't broke.....0 -
This should help you

I use QXL (54/39) on my TT bike and Q on my road bike (52/36).0 -
Thanks for the reply and really interesting article.
Is it the general consensus that people use QXL on TT bikes and Q on more normal road bikes?0 -
rotor suggest if this is your first oval ring go with the Q ring and get that set up properly before trying the QXL. You might not even need the QXL depending on where you have to position the lobe.
Going to buy an in power crank and Q ring for my 29er next week. Until I have used rotors software I wont know if the Q or QXL ring is for me so I will start with the Q ring and if I need a QXL ring then I will get one.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
