Specialized Evade Padding

I've got a big head, but just about fit a medium Evade with the adjustment dial wound all the way out; this is great because in most other brands I have to go up to a large and there's always a lot of lateral movement, not to mention looking like a mushroom head.
However, at the rear of the Evade there's a massive unpadded section (bottom of pic below) that rubs on my head and generally feels uncomfortable; has anyone else experienced this or do I just have an odd-shaped head?!
