Carbon Frame or Groupset

Hi All,
I'm relatively new to road cycling and on the hunt for my first road bike - partly commuting but mainly training and races (including triathlons). I'm going to use the cycle to work scheme and have done some research around this.
I don't want to spend all of the £1000 because there are some other bits I'm hoping to get as well. But I wanted to ask people whether I should be looking at the Shimano 105s ahead of a carbon fibre frame (it seems I can't get both under my price limit).
I've narrowed it down to a few bikes and wanted to get some thoughts:
1. Canondale Supersix Evo Tiagra 2016 - £1,100 but I can get it at £880 (before scheme kicks in). Carbon frame with Tiagra 10 speed groupset. http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Cannon ... _2034526_2
And then the four others I was looking at:
2. Verenti Technique 105 - £750.00 Alloy frame, carbon fork and Shimano 105's http://cycletowork.wiggle.co.uk/verenti ... -105-2016/
3. Vitus Bikes Zenium SL Disc Road Bike 2016 - £899.99 Alloy frame, carbon fork, Shimano 105s groupset, disc brakes - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/vitu ... prod135399
4. Pinnacle Dolomite 5 2016 Road Bike - £850.00 Aluminum frame, carbon forks, Shimano 105s, disc brakes - https://www.evanscycles.com/pinnacle-do ... e-EV244121
5. Cannondale CAADX 105 Disc 2016 Cyclocross Bike - £899.99 Alloy frame, carbon forks, Shimano 105s, https://www.evanscycles.com/cannondale- ... e-EV214055
Any thoughts on what I should be looking for - or any bike recommendations I've missed (under £1k - and lower if possible, much appreciated!).
Thanks,

I would go with the SuperSix with 4700 Tiagra.
You can upgrade the groupset at a later stage if you want but the 4700 is really slick and nice to use and you may never feel the need to.0 -
Thanks.
Had a look at the Ribble bikes as well - the D872 comes up a bit too much over budget. The Gran Fondo 105 5800 is within budget and similar price to the supersix: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-gr ... #pid=32814
Is there much between the Ribble and Supersix?0 -
Look at Decathlon - Triban 540 - carbon forks, 105, Mavic Aksium wheels and 9.5 kg = £6500

+1 for the Supersix
Alternatively the Btwin could be a good option, but then, providing you could actually get it delivered...

This is great value for fifty quid over your budget...

That decathlon ultra 720 is one of the nicest bikes ive seen at that price point. I wouldnt hesitate in buying that.0 -
Thanks for the advice.
Think I'm down to 3 - probably in preferred order.
B'Twin Mach 720 - £879.99 at Decathlon - http://www.decathlon.co.uk/mach-720-car ... 39670.html (105 groupset and Carbon Frame and Fork - 8.8kg). I did look at the Ultra but it's over price point.
Canondale SuperSix Evo Tiagra - £880.00 at Sigma Sport (ignore the £1100 price tag) http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Cannon ... _2034526_2 - is Tiagra Groupset rather than 105's on the B'Twin. 8.6kg
Ribble Gran Fondo (Special Edition 105s): £899.99 (although Ribble do have 10% admin fee for Cycle to Work Scheme) -
http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-gr ... #pid=328140 -
Depending on what size you want that Cannondale can be had for £799.

What about the bike fit?0
-
Never assume a bike will fit you if you think you can choose a bike you like the look of then pick the correct size. It might be that none of the available sizes will fit you properly and geometry will be all wrong.
You can only get around this by knowing your bike fit, otherwise you are leaving things to chance and by picking a size you think is right is only lowering that chance a bit, nothing else.0
