Hi,

My trusty steed has broken.... Snapped my frame riding to work today.

I've only recently upgraded a load of parts so want to be able to swap as many parts as I can. My current frame is a Rockhopper sl2010 comp - I've posted the original specs at the bottom of this post. I've also got some new rigid forks that I was going to put on at some point, new forks are kinesis maxlight xlt (http://www.kinesisbikes.co.uk/Catalogue ... n-Bike/XLT

It seems hard to search specifically for 26" hard tail frames but does anyone have any recommendations?

This frame got slated on the review on this site but riders seem to like it. Any idea what teh difference is between the E & EDP variations, I can't see a difference in spec but there a 1/3rd differnce in price.

what about a Dartmoor hornet frame? these are 26 & 650b compatible but may be overkill if your just going to use it for riding to work and back.

check ebay and places for a frame, I've had a boardman mtb frame off there for not much money.

Most semi decent HT frames are now 650B at least.

Personally I'd look for a decent quality used frame, older frames tend to be lighter anyway.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I don't just use it for commuting, so the hornet well within scope . A few months ago I was going to go for a kenesis synch TI frame but decided to keep my old frame and just upgrade components. I spent around £600 upgrading components, so kind of annoyed its decided to break now! Thin its had ~10k miles on it though.

Just realsied there is a lifetime warranty on specalized frames so that's my first port of call!
  • Ended up figuring out that specialised give a life time warranty on there frames so got a new bike out of it. I was able to return my 26" to stock before sending it off so have the 26" upgraded parts to sell on.

Ended up with a mid range 29er which is a bit of a disappointment, it feels like a bit of a tank compared to my 26". I'm going to try lightening the bits I can and hoping I come round to it
