My rear wheel is rotating a bit rough and needs maintenance so i am looking to replace both the front and rear hub bearings. Halfords sell a pack of Weldite bearings for just over a quid:

Are they cheap because theyre crap, or are they a good deal?
I can get some official Shimano ones of eBay, but unfortunately the ones for the front hub (the 3/16") come in packs of 20, and according to the Shimano document, i require 22, which means buiyng 2 packs for the sake of 2 bearings...

Heres the tech docs for my hubs:

Nothing wrong with Weldtite stuff generally.
Try just cleaning them out and greasing them first.I don't do smileys.

Get Weldtite bearings here.
Not sure what they cost at Halfords but this seems good value.
If your'e cleaning, lubing and refitting them, keep LH and RH separate. Told this many moons ago by old mechanic who had only ever worked with cup and cone stuff. Said they can wear at different rates so if you mix them some will be in contact with the bearing surfaces and some wont causing more rapid wear. Not sure if it's true but it's served me well. Just saying.

Thanks for replies. Ill probably end up going for those then.
Cooldad, since ive opened up the bearings i figure i may as well throw in some new bearings + grease.
Indeed. I find the non drive side rear is always the first to go. The rear in general goes worse first, but the left hand side doesnt have the gears over it so usually dies first.
The front axle bearings usually wear remarkably less quickly, and have never experienced differing wear on either side strangely.0 -
How about buying these? The halfords bearings are only available in 3/16" which is a bummer
