Might seem like a stupid question but I have a specialized Roubaix that came with an FSA crankset, after 2 years I am looking to refresh the drive train and can't work out which chainrings are the correct ones. Any tips? Or advice?

The chainring holes need to match number of arms on the chainset - 4-arm (4 holes) or 5-arm (5 holes) configuration.

Compatibility depends on the BCD (bolt circle diameter)

If your current chainrings are 'compact' 34/50t , the BCD is 110. Any Shimano/Sram/FSA/Other brand 110BCD chainring will fit**

If your current chainrings are 'standard' 39/53t , the BCD is 130. Any Shimano/Sram/FSA/Other brand 130BCD chainring will fit**

**Campagnolo type chainrings will not fit
  • Why FSA? Why not something a bit nicer like the Praxis rings?

FSA stuff does seem to wear horrendously fast. After just a year the finish on the FSA crankset I have is in a really poor state.

I would be tempted to just replace the whole crankset.

Sadly I need bb30 compatible so a new set isn't so straight forward. Praxis seems a bit rich so will probably just get the FSA ones. Shame about the praxis, looks great.

Just wondering if I can squeeze another few thousand kms out of my chainrings
