Hi, new to the forum so please go easy!!

Just sold my hardtail and now looking for a decent used full suspension bike with a budget of £600. 99% of my riding is on the South downs Way but occasionally head up to North Wales with friends for weekends. So have been looking at the Scott MC50, Cube AMS 125 plus a couple of older Specialised Epics. Looking for advice, comments etc. Thanks in advance.

  • Welcome to the Forum.
Your best bet is to stick a few specs to the bikes you have spotted.
I wouldn't want to advise on whether a bike is worth the price as only you will be able to tell by the way it rides.

That said, the MC50 is an old bike with a 'unique' looking frame/shock set-up. I've just seen a post four years ago, offering one for sale at £500, so possibly not that one. Friend used to have an AMS - nice bike and very well specced in 2011, but it felt and handled very much like a XC bike. Served him well on mile-munching all-dayers, but he didn't use it on the local wooded trails.
Take a look on the classifieds on here, or on something like Pinkbike. You will be able to see what £600 will get you.
It also has a good set of filters that you can use to narrow down your search.
    2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)
2012 Cube Ltd SL (the hardtail XC 26er)
    2014 Lapierre Zesty TR 329 (the full-sus 29er)

If you can stretch the budget you can get a new one with 10% off if you sign up to British cycling.
  • I picked up a 2013 Giant Anthem from eBay . Fully Xt group set , fox shock and fork , had very little use for £700 a little over budget I know but shows the kind of deals you can get
  • Cheers everyone for the posts and advice. Seems like I'll be on the internet over the weekend and looking forward to getting out on the Southdowns ASAP :D
