Front and rear light set recommendations

Ciao folks
Nights closing in and I need to acquire, sharpish, lights for my 4 nights per week, 10 minute ride back home from my city centre squash club.
That pretty much sums up my "dark cycling" time.
Would be grateful for recommendations to suit.
Thanks

10 minutes in a street lit area? if so, try to get your hands on these (I sh*t you not):

Bender of this forum has reviewed them here-

I've got the rear only, and it's very, very impressive."It must be true, it's on the internet" - Winston Churchill0 -
I like my Moon Comet II front and rear, a little expensive but well worth it. The rear is retailing now for around £26 but if you have a Go Outdoors customer card you can get it for £19 http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/moon-comet- ... ht-p361511
And the front is here... http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/moon-comet- ... ht-p361485 (CRC list the price as £18 so a little saving).
Incidentally, one night when they turned the streetlights off (they do that at midnight around here) the front light on it's solid (not flashing), brightest setting was good enough to see the road with, not too far mind you (so didn't go too fast) but damn well enough for just a little 'be seen' light.0 -
Go with something like USB rechargeable, saves you buying bloody batteries. If I were to buy lights again I'll go with Cateye. My current set (FWE brand) from Evans is a pain as I have to press the button three times to switch it off as with Cateye you just hold the button for two seconds then it switches off.0

I love my Moon Shield 60 rear, lots of setting options, really bright for the price and USB rechargeable.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Great recommendations and excellent link by Andcp to the Roubaix review.
I'll try to get hold of the Aldi set in the review today. Failing that, and having a Go-outdoors card, I'll get the Comet Mk II set for £36.
Nice one guys

I've got both ALDI lights, comet and nebula clones. The one gripe I have is they're not as easily turned on. Mine take a really long press where you have to wiggle your finger to get the switch properly pressed. It then presses easily when turned on between the intensity options. The nebula clones are worse than the comet clones. Although I found the nebula ones turned straight to flashing sometimes with just a rapid double click. The solid beam can then be reached easily.
Just a niggle about them. Anyone else find the switch a bit iffy?0 -

I've not specifically had problem with the nebula clones, but I generally just don't like the on/off switch arrangement as the switch rubber is larger than the pressure point, and it all feels badly put together - I've considered applying a little bit of silicone sealant to stop the sides lifting & moving around, but know that's not a great idea with the plastics there.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

I found on my nebula clone by pulling up the rubber, folding it back and pressing I get the little switch pressure point and it turns on. It's really a poor switch IMHO.0

I've got the Exposure Trace and TraceR

They are very bright with great side visibility. Easy to take on and off the bike and charge using micro USB. Good quality and made in the UK.0 -
Well, went to Aldi t'other day but they'd sold out of all LEDs so thought I'd hold off for a few days, in lieu of ordering the £36 Comets, to see if any more turned up. So pleased I did as I've just got back with a set of these for a tenner.

Just tested them and they appear excellent.

Given the (generally) positive feedback I just got myself an Exposure Flare and a pair of Olight RCR123's to power it - chucking batteries in a smart charger is no more difficult than plugging in a microUSB, so I couldn't justify the extra cost of the Tracer.
Went with Olights because I know they'll fit my other 16340 lights (including a keyring light) so I'll always have a spare anyway. They need a neodymium magnet to fit but otherwise very happy with the setup - it's impressively bright.0 -
My nebula aldi clones are fine. I can see how the switch might annoy but mine go on with a simple single push.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)
