Maybe a bit silly idea, but I have been servicing my tora tk forks ready for sale and notice I can shorten them down to 80mm travel, bike she currently have is carrera luna 24" and comes with nasty suntour shock, I know they will fit but what do you think?

Will have to check the weight on both of them don't want to add to much weight on here bike.

Let me know

  • Air they air forks? You will need to run them softer ie less air pressure or a softer spring fornthem to be effective for here weight. Also check the AtoC to have a look at whether they will affect the geometry. Should be a good upgrade if they dont add any weight.

Sadly they not air, at the moment fitted with re medium spring, just checked the weight whooping 2259g, my daughter needs her bike tomorrow for school but will check the weight of her suntour after her school.

I can't find spring/weight guide on net at the moment but I can get x-soft or soft looking at manual just matter of finding one.

That's about the same weight as a 26" Suntour XCM (not surprising as structurally they are very similar).

By the time you've bought a spring you would probably be better off selling the Tora and buying a lighter weight air fork, see if you can find a Manitou Skareb, they last well and are sub 1.5Kg. (I serviced mine just before I sold them and they were quite literally as new). and can be shortened with homemade spacers.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

They are bit heavy, maybe you right Rookie, I know that the previous owner did remove one of them springs out of suntour forks, they feel soft but they just spring loaded and internal design is absolutely horrid, bike manufactures should just put nice light alloy rigid fork and I'm sure would be lot better.
