I have Shimano tiagra 4600 triple cranks and cassette on my Jake kona (2013). They are worn and need changing out soon. Is there any issue changing to 4700 on just these 2 components keeping everything else as 4600 range. I know there is a change in the shifters and RD but i'm thinking of just changing out cranks and cassette? Any advice would be welcome, getting the odd slip.

You may be OK. I know that for the 2 x 10 version of 4700 they have redesigned the FD to make it the same long actuator arm as the 11 speed 105 5800 - which suggests that the pull ratio on the double shifters will be different to that on the 4600.
However looking at pics of the 4703 front derailleur it would appear to be the "old" short actuator arm style so yopu may get away with it.

FD4603
Hopefully others with direct experience will be able to confirm
EDIT Sorry just re-read your post and realised I'd got things round my neck a bit.
To answer your specific point I don't think there will be any problem using the 4703 crankset and a 4700 cassette with your 4600 shifters0 -
Thanks arlowood for your insightful reply, from the research i've done i think you are right. i'll go for it, thanks again. The only thing putting me off was this on the cranks spec page "Only compatible with Tiagra components of model year 2016 (4700/4703) due to modified leverage ratios".0
