New fs bike

Right guys I'm buying new bike and was looking at a ht for around 1000-1500 but now I've decided to go fs as I want to not only do trail riding but do a bit of dh riding as well.
I have been looking at the whyte t-130 (which appeals to me loads) and Vitus escape vrx and Vitus sommet.

Reason why I haven't 100% gone for the whyte is that its only got 130mm travel and I think that would not be enough for dh or is that the minimum?
Any bike recommendations that I have not looked at and be ideal for what I want would be much appreciated

Do you want to do 'Downhill' or have a bike that is good for trails that have downhill sections?“Life has been unfaithful
And it all promised so so much”
Giant Trance 2 27.5 2016 ¦ Sonder Broken Road 2021¦ Giant Revolt Advanced 2 2019 ¦ Giant Toughtroad SLR 1 2019 ¦ Giant Anthem 3 2015 ¦ Specialized Myka Comp FSR 20090 -
Neither of those bikes is good for downhill, nothing new for your budget is.
The Vitus bikes are OK as trail bikes but I've seen what happens when they're ridden hard.
For your budget, a used Nukeproof Scalp would be the best downhill bike or a Giant Reign or Specialized Enduro for a more all round bike.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Trials with dh sections but I would like to do bit more just dh but not too extreme. I just want a all rounder which can handle dh well. I know my budget isn't the best for what I want but I just don't wanna have to buy two bikes.0

On your budget I'd go for a used 2012ish Specialized Enduro. The more suspension travel you've got, the better quality damping you need which is why I'd avoid new budget enduro bikes like the Vitus.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Not sure on a bike but if you do decide to buy from chain reaction join British cycling for £21 a year to get 10% off. Should save you £100 or so.0

The reign looks awesome and from spec of new 2017 bike seems really good but also I've looked at the giant trance there are 4 2017 models. The gentlemen in my local giant bike shop he and his Bros are ex pro dh etc and he said he road the trance and its the best all rounder he ridden would you guys agree from the old models if you have or seen them ridden?

I bought a 2016 Trance 2 a couple of months ago and really like it.
Trances do live up to the hype and are very nice to ride.
I got mine heavily discounted. Have a search, there are bargains to be had.
The Trance 2 is £1,600 from Paul's Cycles. A little bit above your budget, but worth pushing it if you can.“Life has been unfaithful

See I wouldn't mind going higher if I can get finance as I would go for the trance 2 at 2..2 k but only if its worth it in spec wise also I think the 2916 reign has come down in price
