Hi guys, I have a pair of Mavic Crossride rims with sealed hubs. I'm wanting to replace the bearings inside. Can someone point me in the direction of a bearing puller suitable for this? Also, any suggestions for good quality bearings? Thanks again!! :D

  • I'll be replacing the bearings in my rear hub on my crossrides next month too. The bearings I'll be using will be Mavics own 608 6001 replacement set...

As for the tools, this is something I'm also pondering... For me I'll be buying a new cassette, new front tyre and also a new chain at the same time. So I might just get the LBS to do it as the proper bearing tools look a little pricey along with a cassette tool too.

Unless there are any good suggestions from anyone here?
  • @avalanche expert...
Hi, yep, bearings are cheap enough, priced up service at my LBS and would be looking at £30-40 for this job, which is why I was looking at doing it myself... depending on price of tools. Another option I might have is a mate who works in a car garage, just depends if he has tools small enough!
    Already commented, any other suggestions?
  • Anyone using ceramic bearings? Found hybrid ceramic ABEC 7's for a reasonable price but looking for reviews beforehand..! Pros/Cons for ceramic? (If ceramic is good enough for multi £'000s worth of super cars, why not bearings?
  • Mavic bearings are one of the easiest to replace.
Should only take 5 mins max and require no special tools apart from the simplest bearing press.
Get some endless thread and make one yourself if you like.
The bearings are bog standard, just get them from any bearing supplier.
  • Rightarmbad... Yep, they are cheap enough, found these...

also found these and was wondering if there is any significant benefit (performance/lifespan) over standard bearings...
