Clicking on links - can they open in a new tab?

On most websites and forums that I visit, if I click on a link then the link opens in a new tab on my browser. However, on the BikeRadar forums, it opens in the same window so I lose the BikeRadar forum! This is really, really annoying!
Is it possible to have links open in a new tab? Perhaps I've missed an option in the Control Panel?
I know I can right-click to open a link in a new tab but I'd like to be able to just click on it and have it open in a new tab.

shift click on them, control click on them, or command (mac) click on them
Various browsers will do something you want, with the methods above either opening a new tab or browser window0 -
Clicking on the link with the mouse wheel works for me to open a link in a new tab with Chrome.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
