Juicy 3 servicing..

Hi guys, as titled, I'm thinking of servicing my Avid Juicy 3 brakes. Just bought new pads and had a bit of a leak when fitting. Found Avid bleed kits for around the £15 mark, together with Brembo Dot 5.1 oil 500ml for £9. Are these OK to use? (If not, please point me in the right direction). Thinking of doing a full service / strip down (don't know if/when this was last done), will the seals need replacing? If so, can someone link a good instruction plan on how to do this? Thanks for any help!!

You can get a bleed kit including fluid from Epic for about £12. As good as they get.
Forget stripping them. Just clean the pstons and seals with some IPA, lube with a bit of fluid if the pistons are sticky (without the pads in obviously), and go.
If they need more work than that they're not worth it.I don't do smileys.

@cooldad, cheers, much appreciated!!
Do you mean Epic cycles? Can only find bikes, no accessories or parts. Is Brembo oil OK then? Found cheaper oils but prefer to get a named brand make rather than 'supermarket' brands. Happy to lube pistons, thought they might have needed more.0 -
Nope Epic Bleed Solutions - their kits work well and plenty guides etc on site.

Good luck with bleeding them. Juicy's are an absolute bitch to bleed.
When the old git above says clean them with IPA he's referring to isopropyl alcohol, not Indian pale ale. Don't get those two confused.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Use the taste test if uncertain. IPA tastes better than IPA.I don't do smileys.

I disagree, I prefer the taste of IPA over IPA.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

IPA is certainly stronger than IPA.I don't do smileys.

Cheers guys... Lol..!
Will do the taste test on both and will let you know!!0 -
Success with bleeding/servicing juicy brakes, accomplished with (relative) ease, wasn't that bad. I found IPA no. 2 to be the winner in the taste test, no.1 had a bit of a tang to it!0

It's the tang that makes it.
And good.I don't do smileys.
