So, say you were going on a holiday but could only take one set of kit
What specific pieces would you take?
Rapha Pro Team shorts
Rapha merino jersey and mesh Base
Giro, thin gloves
DeFeet socks
What would yours be?

When I put kit on I pretty much forget what I'm wearing.
I can't tell the difference between tops or shorts.
It's more about the ride than the kit.0 -
Sounds like a fun night in the pubI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0

If i could only take 1 kit, i think i'd prioritise taking some travel clothes detergent!0

That is a non happener, I appreciate that on a desert island you might be short of records to play, hence the choice, but on a holiday you can take as much as you like, just sacrifice something else...

ok ..... your house is on fire you are outside with your bike and you realise you have a ride later to go on and you need your gear, the fireman says, listen mate, you cant really go back in, but we cant save your house, so leave your bike with me, I'll look after it, you run back in quickly and grab some kit for your ride later ... but only grab one outfit, you don't have time to grab any more.
which out fit would you rescue ?0 -

I guess depends on the weather that day... :roll:left the forum March 20230 -
More logically - You are going on a cycling holiday, renting a bike. You have checked luggage but want to take 1 set in hand luggage, just in case. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -

you are riding in Britain, it will be cold and wet, with spells of hot sunny humid weather, with the odd snow flurry, gale force winds and a stillness that leaves sweat clinging to your brow even though you are descending at 40mph .. blustery showers and a weather warning for the hottest day in the world .. its the perfect day to go to the beach and sunbathe, or jump in puddles with your children0 -
The Danish olympics kit....if/when it arrives0

And yet we spent the spring preparing for the worst, but the Fred Whitton 2016 was blessed with sunshine and 25 degrees...left the forum March 20230 -

I guess decent shorts, merino base layer, long sleeved jersey and a showerproof I can fold? That works most of the timeleft the forum March 20230 -

I did go on holiday and took minimal cycling kit.
I had cycling socks, shoes & a pair of shorts.
I didn't bother with the shoes or shorts - but then riding around with a 1yo in a seat on the back was never going to be fast or furious!0 -

I did this the other week - 8 days lightweight touring in the Alps
Club jersey/shorts
1 pair socks
Arm/leg warmers
Lightweight waterproof jacket
Lightweight windproof layer
Overshoes
Base layer
Cap
Summer gloves
Lightweight Winter gloves
Base layer and windproof layer work as t-shirt/jacket for evenings off the bike, along with a lightweight pair of trousers that convert into shorts by unzipping the legs, a pair of boxer shorts and a pair of super-lightweight shoes (barely more than flip flops). Base layer is only intended to be worn on the bike in emergencies (below freezing), so in practice it stays clean, but it's available if you find yourself riding through a blizzard.
The whole lot, plus a phone/Garmin charger, toothbrush and emergency toolkit, weighed less than 2kg, and fitted in a lightweight drybag strapped under the saddle. The bike's barely more loaded than it would be for a day ride, so you do have the flexibility to plan a long itinerary without needing any support, and without any tangible impact on bike handling or climbing speed.Pannier, 120rpm.0
