Autumn/winter jacket

I'm on the hunt for a jacket that'll do me commuting on a road bike over the next few months. There seems to be a lot of choice. I tend to run quite cool so warm is fine. I'm open to advice on specifics, my only real prerequisites are that it has reasonably sized pockets, is cut slim and isn't too pricey. I just want something that'll keep me warm-ish through moderate rain, chilly winds etc but when I'm pushing hard enough to be generating a bit of heat anyway. A jack of all trades really.

The first option that's caught my eye is the Galibier Summit Wind Jacket but I can't find much info on it:

I suspect slightly heavier/warmer is the oneten Alpha Winter Jacket.

There is a hell of a lot of choice out there. What works for other people as it starts to get darker, wetter and windier?

These are great, keep an eye on the price or find someone with wiggle platinum and they're £88.

If you run cool the 5-15 degrees rating on the Galibier might mean it's not good enough for the really cold days. Could be mind, equally the Aeron is really a 0-10 degrees jacket.

Probably should have mentioned budget - beyond £70 is unlikely to happen. Less is definitely a bonus.

And I've not written off the Summit as if we're talking another 3-4 degrees I can layer underneath accordingly.

Also really like the look of the Galibier Mistral Foul II Weather jacket. More expensive than the ASV Windslam, I suspect a touch warmer and more weather resistant. But both look good.

I like some of the jackets shown. To me they are expensive though. I bought and Aldi one last year and it did me well - fitted ok and put on extra layers when very cold / wet. It has been washed about 50 times and so now needs changing but on the basis of not caring about the brand and my own experience I'll buy a couple of these when they come out later on in the year.

I'd second this. Believe aldi event is either coming sunday or next thursday, as signs have started appearing in the stores for stuff.

Unfortunately they've changed their jacket - the new version appears to be this:

Last year that had a thicker but flexible style one that had a reflective strip right up the back.
The other option is the "performance" one, but that one didn't fit me.

Too baggy or too slim Wolfsbane? My one reservation about Aldi is that they don't seem to do snug layers in their other ranges.

They never sell the same jacket twice that I've seen - each time it's slightly different.

I think I've three of their jackets - and they all are pretty good. Very warm. Lots of reflectives.

They aren't the slimmest fitting of jackets - but that's not too much of an issue for winter when you may want extra layers.

Too short in the body. I'm 6ft 7 ex second row, so that'll probably give you an idea of my body shape
They definitely don't do "snug" cycling ranges for normal people - its' much more "relaxed", but most XL turn out a good fit for me if they have the length - must say something about the spare tyre I carry around with me!

Indeed, and I wouldn't expect them to - I just couldnt' find the description I was looking for - the roubaux type material is what I want.
Perfect for the -5 to 5 degrees days with a base layer, will do me for a good couple of hours on the bike in dry/drizzle.

+1 for the ASV windslam.

Kept me warm all last year with either a merino underlayer from Embers on dry days, or nothing under, but a hi-viz coat on drenching days.

Very good kit.

I use Castelli Trasparente Due Jacket and Endura short sleeve baselayer. Winter bib tights are also helpful as they tend to rise a little higher and keep your core warm. This was an issue for me previously when I was wearing 3/4 Bib Shorts.
