New Vs second hand

I'm in the market for a new bike - probably (almost definitely) a short travel FS like the Whyte T130 RS one similar (I like the idea of the Cotic Soul but at 48 years old the comfort of a FS really appeals).

I'm wondering if I am better off buying new or used?

Thoughts?

Depends on your budget, how confident you are checking condition of bikes and your priorities.
Personally, I couldn't care less about a few scratches etc so I've just bought a year old frame at less than half the price of a new one.

I'm reasonably confident but never bought a used bike before.

Both my full sus mountain bikes are Second hand as is my road bike ... Infact it's only my work commuter that's new

Oh and the mtbs get a good kicking in Wales so a proper workout for them
