Poll - Do your trainer miles count

  • I put an hour on the turbo down as 20 miles, just because I tend to use miles as a rough measure of how much I've done over a period of time.

As far as miles or hours goes neither is better than the other and neither is a perfect measure of training load.

  • Personally I ride on the trainer through the week so that my slow bimbles outside at the weekend are as easy as they possibly can be!

coasting == not pedalling, which can be done on a trainer
I certainly cannot 'coast' on my turbo trainer, effort is needed to keep it going. Rollers on the other hand....

Count for what? There are no rules about cycle mileage, no tax to pay on pedalling, no prizes to be won by pedalling more, no shame in pedalling less... warranties do not rely on mileage either... I am not sure what you are counting them for

thats not true i won £7.50 in a hill climb last year :D

I like to get a rough sense of how much I'm riding now (this week, this month, this year) compared to similar periods in the past. This lets me think "hey I'm getting out a lot more this year", or conversely "shit! I've not been out much this month - better get some time in or I'm going to die on the next club run".

I could just go on feel, but I like numbers, so i track miles. So yes, I count my zwift miles in that number, especially as the weather starts to get really miserable.
