Hi

I have done my first ride with a new garmin 25 edge, and i have some newbie issues.I am sure some of you have had the same problems and can help with this :)

First thing i have noticed is that if a load a .fit file in the newfiles folder in the device, or in courses, it doesnt work. Does anybody how can i load a file in the device without synchronizing with garmin connect? My route is created with ridewithgps

As i was unable to load the route, i created the route with garmin connect. Well, that was the worst part! The route doesnt even match with the road!!

I was riding in the road loaded in the route, and the edge25 said that i was out of the track, running in pararel to the loaded route! Has anybody had a similar issue?

As none of those options worked, i had to load a route that i have previously done with the device, so it was stored there. The route was loaded ok, but some junctions were not indicated as breadcrumbs in the device. How does the device detect when there is a new indication to display? Is there any way to modify the route manually to load the missed indications?

Thanks

This happens when the maps used to plan the route don't quite match the actual roads. With Garmin Connect you can use OSM or Google maps. Try the other map type to the one you used and create a route and see it it matches better.

You cant load a route onto the Edge 25 by copying the file - you can only do it by syncing. This is unlike most/all other Edge units.

You will find online maps dont match perfectly where the real roads are - some of this is innacuracies, some is actually intentional - even Ordnance Survey plot things out of place deliberately when they need to fit in a label or other feature and it would otherwise cover it over. So sometimes you will go 'off course' and then back on - happens with all devices.

But in general, if you really want mapping/routing, you chose the wrong device. The Edge 25 is not designed for this and its just a bonus that it does its best.
