I've got an old Garmin Edge 800, that is getting a bit unreliable when connecting via USB to the PC to download activities. I'm going to switch the data recording to the SD card, so I can access the activities when it finally gives up. However, the SD card contains the maps. There is a lot of space left on the card, but I want to check that there'll be no problem recording activities to the same card as the maps. I hate to lose or overwrite the maps. The Garmin manual isn't much help, so has anyone done this successfully? Thanks.

I do this. The actual .fit files that are the recorded activities are small and it would take a long time to fill up my SD card. I use a 4GB one. If you do notice the card filling up you just remove the recorded activities from the card. The maps will be left alone.

Many thanks, as I thought, but I wanted to double check.
