Suspension forks

I have recently acquired a trek 9.8 with what I believe are rocks hoax Sid suspension forks which aren't working properly. So I took it into my local bike shop who sent the forks away to be repaired and much to my disappointment I was informed the forks can't be repaired as they can't get the parts any more. Does anyone know of any other options I might have?

Buy new ones or if they are old enquire on the www.retrobike.co.uk forum. There are a few guys on there who are experts at fixing old forks.
