Hi guys, I've had enough of cycling on my tod. Time to join a club.
I live in Blackwood, Caerphilly and ideally a club closer to me than Caerphilly cycling club. There was a club called new Tredegar nomads but I can't any info about them plus I'm not on Facebook.
Anyone know?
Cheers guys

New Tredegar Nomads are still around, very small, very quiet club but nice chaps.
Union Cycliste Ystrad Mynach is closer to you than Caerphilly, surprised you aren't aware of them. They ride out from the Centre for Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach at 9 every Sunday and 18.00 on Wednesdays when daylight allows. They are a thriving club with members of all capabilities and a very active group of ladies.
A very easy club to get on with, very active facebook group will show you their M.O. if you can get access to facebook.
PM me for an introduction or keep an eye out round you for members, there are a few around Blackwood/Pontllanfraith/Crown.
    Here's how the club started:

  • Brilliant thanks very much. My missus is on Facebook so I'll get her to log on tonight and come back to you.
My avg speed is around 13mph, can do 40-50 miles but did the velothon quite easily. I'm looking to keep my fitness levels up especially now the colder and darker days are coming. Sunday mornings are ideal as this is when I usually venture out for a few hours.
Off the top of your head any idea what type of mileage they do on Sunday's?

There's always a bail-out and a couple of groups. You can always ride so far and then turn round when you fancy.
    Routes range from 40-60 miles.
This Sunday is down to Cold Knapp

Wheels roll at 09.00 sharp, 09.01 means you'll miss the ride.
  • Sounds good mate. Ok to turn up for a few roses before becoming a member or do they prefer u become member first? We ok to park in the sports centre?

3 rides before you commit, parking free at CSE.
May see you Sunday. The club coach will look after you if he's there, just say hello to whoever you first meet in a club jersey and have a word with the ride captain, ask to ride in the slower group - avoids nerves & embaressment.
  • Cheers buddy I'll pop over
  • Hi mate. If I lived near Blackwood it would have to be Cwmcarn Paragon. I'd love to join that club. Proper old school cycling clubs with some absolute legends / animals of riders. Some real serious dudes I'm led to believe but very accommodating so I'm told.
