It seems that the UK has sold it's entire stock of Spiderings with no sign of a re-supply for months. Does anyone know if Cannondale has ceased making separate Spiderings available to the UK or if an outlet has stock at a sensible price. Bike24.de lists them as available but at 270 Euros a pop.....

I have the CX ones but these are pretty damn fine looking.

Be careful - I have a 2014 cannondale synapse with SiSl and the Praxis rings were NOT compatible despite Praxis saying they were.

I couldnt fit them, the workshop couldnt (when I though "is it me?" so got a second opinion) and so they went back.

PS when I say I couldnt fit them - they went on easily, but they dont have quite the right shape for the mounting, and so sat just a mm or so out - barely perceptible to the eye, but completely unworkable.
  • I think mine are. At least there was front mech rubbing. I altered the inline adjuster and they're fine.

  • Quertycycles and cannondalesapres both have them on their website, not sure if you've tried either?
  • I have both 52-36 (8arm) and 50-34 (10arm) with little use on each. Are you looking for any of these ?

The problem with my SiSl + praxis set up was that the inner and outer rings were 1mm too far apart when fitted, and so the chain would fall in between every time. There was no fix and it was a terminal incompatibility.

Strange, I've had no issues c mine on an SiSL chainset (110bcd).

I can't explain it either, but the cut outs on the praxis ring just weren't quite the same as the arms on the spider when you looked *really* close, resulting in the 1mm gap which you couldn't adjust for.

The rings fitted in minutes, and seemed to slot on easily and perfectly, but once the chain was on and you spun the cranks and tried to change rings, the problem was immediately obvious and unfixable.

I thought I was missing something obvious so took it to the workshop and they concluded the same, after fettling for a couple of hours.'

Perhaps it was an odd batch (hard to believe if so), but it was a very definite incompatibility.

Others on here have used the rings with the same spider/cranks as mine without problem.

Bizarre! And I can offer no explanation.

It's pretty much impossible to introduce user error too as it's just a simple metal on metal plus bolt interface.
  • Yep. It's just one of those things I guess. I wonder whether the fault is somewhere on the chainset rather than with the Praxis?

Given how simple praxis rings essentially are, you might imagine so... but they the spider is a pretty simple thing too.

To be honest, once it was clear it just wasn't working, I got some FSA rings and never really looked into it any further.

I suspect there's some other factor at play as clearly these things are designed to work together.

Perhaps the moment my bike was produced, Cannonale were having supply issues and perhaps a small number of bikes for a few days had a 3rd party spider or something, which isn't as compatible as the one they usually use.

I doubt i'll ever know, but to be honest, the FSA rings I ultimately went with look better (to me) than the praxis.
  • Not the new ones mind, those Buzz ones are gorgeous! My CX one looks quite industrial but that's fine, it's CX.
