Carrera TDF 2011 - Front forks

I need some help on the Carrera TDF and front forks. I bought this for my son and after a few short months he has crashed and the forks are laterally bent. There is no other damage but I have been told that new forks will cost £110.00 from Halfords.

That or a new bike is unaffordable right now so am looking to see whether there is an alternative cheaper source for forks that will be suitable. If so, can anyone help with me with this so I can get him back on the road (Hopefully to stay on the road!!!)

I used to ride a lot years back but I have as much rust on my riding as my bike!

Many thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me.

Your LBS should be able to source a basic HT steel road fork from one of the distributor catalogues for a lot less than that. Depends on how much you can afford, really.
  • Many thanks for that. Suspect it stays off the road until I can do something with it.

Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • Thanks for the info. I saw these but I wasn't sure whether I would be buying the wrong part. My knowledge on bikes goes back a very long way (30 years!) and I am only just getting back up to speed so don't understand what I am looking at half the time!

Will order and see if this gets me what I need!

    Cheers,

I'd be wary of that listing - the fork is described as 'aluminium alloy' but all of the pics appear to be of steel forks. Still a good price though, and it will do the job regardless.
  • Where my son is concerned, steel may be the better option! :D
