My brother has taught at a secondary school, which before he joined was underperforming in one of the most deprived areas of Wolverhampton which had targeted funding as a result. My brother went to the local grammar on a scholarship if that matters but he'd have done well regardless.

On another note, we put my daughter into private education, this was in the financial crisis and middle England secondary schools were being starved of cash and the results showed. My daughter hated the private school and we put her into the local comprehensive which she loved. It's also about where the child is happiest and more conducive to learning that matters.
