A question of size

Last month my bike was trashed in a bit of a car crash when I was on holiday in France, the wheels of the insurance companies are grinding around very slowly as it seems that the driver who hit me may not have been legally allowed to drive on the autoroute and therefore not insured!!

But that's by the by, I have got sick of waiting for the insurance companies to get their arses into gear so I'm looking for a cheapish road that will do for a while and then I'll sell it on on eBay. Today I saw a second hand Giant TCR that was apparently only used for a couple of months before the owner decided to upgrade, it certainly looks in sparkling nick and it's for sale at half retail price but it's a M size which according to Giant's website is for riders up to 5' 10" and I'm six feet tall, would it really be that much of a problem or would it be worth looking for a L size bike?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

A longer stem should effectively ensure a proper fit. Your only marginally outside the height guidelines and as they say its easier to make a small bike fit you than make you fit a large bike.

No a large would be to big. M/L is listed for someone your size not large, however you may be o.k. with a medium with a longer stem, as suggested above. Can't you compare the geometry with your current bike to see if it would work for you?

Saddle can go up, stem can be longer and/or flipped, the only issue you'll face I think is a more substantial saddle to bar drop. Best check if they have cut the steerer cos if so, you won't be able to lift the bars higher.
