Anyone been road cycling here in October/November? Just wondering re weather, places still open, still bit of buzz, etc. Never been, hear it's very popular for early season training, wondering if that extends to other end of year.

Given the above I would expect it to be all year resort.

  • Went last year in first/second week in October.
    Pollensa based.
Lovely weather..mid 20's and no wind.
Had expected it to be a bit breezy in particular going up the Formentor Lighthouse but no.
Loads of cyclists around and no real busy traffic even on the Sa Calobra route
  • Have you thought of going with an organised cycling tour operator who take care of your airport transfers, luggage transfers and accommodation? I've been with these guys and the route is pretty hot too! Strongly recommend.

Have dates in March & October
  • October's a great time to go as the weather is generally more reliable and warmer than April, and the sea is still nice and warm.

Some of the resorts will be starting to wind down, but the South will be more lively (Palma and surroundings).

November's chancing it a bit, but mostly should be fine.

Been to Alcudia in early April, so similar weather I guess - I'd say 60% of the tourists there were cyclists, so yeah definitely a buzz going on, would imagine Polenca up the road even more so.

We did it ourselves, budget flights, budget self catering accommodation, hire car and hire bikes. Very cheap.

Heres the report we did on the trip https://snookcycling.wordpress.com/mallorca/

It's really not. Last year in early April we had clients soaked and cold in 8'C rain on the plain, (not in the mountains).

That would not happen in October.

Fair enough, I don't live there, hence I said it was a guess.

Guess we were lucky then - 20-25c each day the week we visited in April.

Yeah, that's nice if you get that in April. 2nd half was definitely much better than the 1st last year, but it always seems to be quite a changeable, unsettled month.

In autumn the whole island has been pre-heated to 35'C, and the sea is toasty warm, so it takes a long time for this heat to bleed away.
  • October is definitely much warmer than April. We've been both times of year and the difference is very noticeable. Mostly in the evenings that it just doesn't cool down as much as it does earlier in the year. Mostly because the whole of the Med has had all that summer heat which takes months to dissipate.

Everywhere is still open for most of October, but a lot of hotels and bars close around the end of October.
