I rode these today for the first time in a while and they clicked and creaked continuously. Is this common? Do they need lubrication regularly on the cleat interface?

Are you sure it's not your knees
Try a smear of grease on the pedal where the rubber bit on the cleats sits. Put a blob under your saddle for when it wears off.0 -
Yep, f ing noisey pedals. Grease leaves a residue on your cleats which means a trail of grease wherever you've walked. Not a problem if your single but could be one if you're married and put your shoes on while sitting on the stair carpet.
Black tape applied to the metal strip on the pedals will sort the noise.“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”

I use pledge (furniture polish) - spray on cleats, spray on pedals, wipe off but not very well and that should help. It is now part of my cleaning routine.0

I was going to get a pair these earlier in the week, but as i couldn't decide between 8nm and 12nm carbon springs, I bottled it and went for the cheaper MAX 2 keo. Same here. I've never had an issue with Blade 1 or 2's or with any Keo pedal tbh. The only problem I've had was with the 'grip' cleats so I just run the non grip version.0 -
Mine sound like the crank arm is about to fall off. Not all the time, normally about an hour into a ride, sometimes it stops again for no apparent reason. The cleats are a pile of poo too, I've never had cleats that last less time than a set of tyres, about six months use and one needs replacing. Otherwise great pedals.0

Maybe the cleats with grip on them arent compatible. They dont come with the grip cleats so perhaps I should be using the cleats that came with them. They are also bastards to clip into. I got them because I have garmin Vectors on my best bike and needed compatible pedals on my other bike. That wasnt totally successful as the Exustar cleats dont work well with the Blades, you cant unclip! Electrical tape on the metal bit made no difference.
I think Im switching to Exustar which are what Garmin use. I wish Garmin would make a Vector for Speedplay.Pegoretti

Got to go through the process with mine. Grease and that pipe joint wrap cures all. Once done, light and easy to use pedals0
