How to adapt a training schedule?

I am a recreational cyclist and I am new to this forum. At 45 and realizing that I have been putting in more time to take care of everyone else's needs I got back into cycling again and I have been training for a century ride at the end of October.
Here is my dilema and initial question to the forum....I have a long (5 day) weekend planned out of town the weekend before my century ride. I won't be able to take my bike, but our hotel has a stationary in their facility.
Do I simply keep to my original target date and do some maintenance riding or do maintenance and when I get home repeat that week and push my target date back one week?
Thanks in advance!!!

Honestly, it wont make any difference whatever you do.
Depending on how good the stationary bike is or if you can clip in you could either do the planned workouts or just some easy spins, running, swimming, whatever else is available.
Dont over think it.0 -
Thanks for your input. That was kind of what I was thinking.
My biggest issue was that the one day I had a planned 90 mile ride so I will just do the hardest intervals I can muster out of whatever kind of bike they have and do easy spins the rest of the time.0 -
If you want to hit the 100 miles with the perfect build up you could move it back a week like you say.
Personally as you will be back for a few days after the weekend away I would use it as a good taper.
If Tuesday is your last day away as an example I would work hard all the way up to then and then when back home just easy spin up to the big day.
Good luck.0 -
Fitness wise you'll lose nothing, what you perhaps need to be aware of is fatigue from any late nights and changes to your diet. If you pile on some pounds that will make a difference.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

Having just done something similar to you in prep for the Ride London 100, I more or less took the last week off as a taper.
I did a few shortish rides of c25/30miles, but nothing excessive. Use your break to eat properly, sleep well and maybe spin a bit on the hotel bike, but frankly don't stress about it. If you do strength & conditioning work, I'd suggest that as well.0 -
