Trail Hardtail £750 ish

I'm coming back to MTB after quite a long break. Dragged my Merlin Malt 2 out of the shed, serviced it and have been inspired to do some more trail riding. Unfortunately the drivetrain on my Malt is pretty knackered and the coil fork isn't the best.
So any suggestions for a Trail Hardtail? I like the look of a retro bike more, not such a fan of the square tubes. The Charge bikes look nice.
Any ideas?
