Which Gabba?

With autumn around the corner, think I'll get more use out of the short sleeve jersey with arm warmers, or is the long sleeve version that much better as the weather gets cooler? I can't afford both! :?

Parentini need to get themselves some better web developers - that page doesn't render at all properly on an iPad - the image covers half the text.

What are you hoping the Gabba will do? Provided you aren't drawn in by the hype, all is good. As BtB says, there are alternatives that are cheaper. If you research the material, you'll find several companies use it so there are some better prices out there than Gabba.

  • Long sleeved... as autumns draws in, you're unlikely to want to ride short sleeved

  • And to add there is only one Gabba now. The original short sleeve. The others are called Perfetto and vary according to which one they are. Which is all very confusing.

I'll pass on the feedback. It's certainly a better site than before. And I will continue to press them on making sure that their dealers make it easy to get the thing.

Back to the original question, I have never worn my long sleeve Gabba and been in the position that I wished that I could take the sleeves off! Are you looking at it for cold or wet weather (or both)?

I use short sleeve a lot in spring and autumn with arm skins of varying thickness, very good performance and value, 3rd year just gone.

I'm mostly drawn to the water resistance to avoid having to wear a jacket on those cooler on/off wet autumn rides. I thought the short sleeve version might make it more flexible for use throughout more of the year when used with arm warmers, but if the long sleeve version doesn't particularly overheat, maybe it's not an issue? I've already got a Mortirolo for winter. Cheers...

I've a gabba long sleeve, mosa and prefeto short sleeve with gabba arm warmers. If I was just buying one I would go prefeto short sleeve and get the arm warmers. Mosa is a beautiful piece of kit (and is fully waterproof) but I find the prefeto a smudge more breathable.

My view on this type of kit is I wear them for the changeable weather when you are going to get caught in a shower. For proper, full on rain the forecasts tend to have it bang on and I'm in a race cape/rain jacket (or zwift......!).
  • Tried one on last week and really liked it. Never bought it becaue if you have any excess body fat anywhere, Castelli kit will show it off.

Need to lose a little off the moobs before buying the Gabba methinks.
Trek,,,, too cool for school ,, apparently
  • never tried the gabba but love my Cafe du Cycliste Jossette... short sleeve with arm warmers for colder days.

I wear my short sleeve with and without Nano Flex arm warmers... Would want an LS as well but I like having the choice and they're expensive...

I went for a Gabba convertible. Gives me the best of both worlds.

I have the long sleeved gabba II and the convertible version which I'm not overly keen on and I have the equally good Sportful Windproof Fiandre which is also worth a look.

If I had to choose just one it would be the Sportful over the Gabba
  • http://galibier.cc/product/mistral-foul-weather-bundle/ - get this. I have a long sleeve gabba II and it is fantastic but if I knew about the Galibier Mistral I would of gone with that
  • Has anybody tried any of the Stolen Goat Orkaan jerseys? I really like my Stolen Goat summer jerseys and am tempted by one of these. I too am having the internal long sleeve short sleeve debate.......

  • I have one of the previous Orkaan jerseys and it is far more Water resistant than my Gabba.
  • I have the short sleeve Gabba 2 and use it with Nano flex arm warmers which has been a perfect combination on wet spring/Autumn rides. Yet to try in colder conditions as also have the Mortirolo jacket for cold days. Would definitely recommend.

How long have you had the Gabba? My main one started to lose its properties so I got some fabric restorer from North Face and it was probably better than when new.

I have a ls gabba, which is a lovely bit of kit, and better than I had anticipated, but I still prefer my alpha jersey.

Yea, I'm a really big fan of my Alpha Jersey, got me through the entire winter with the right layering underneath.

The Gabba was less water resistant than the Orkaan from new. The thing is with the Stolen Goat jersey you don't need to use a restorer because the water proof nature of the material can't be washed out so water only gets through at the seams whereas the Gabba has a point where it stops trying and it lets the water through the main material. I still like the Gabba for light showers but anything heavier and it's the Orkaan for me.
