Shimano R171, how do they size?

Hello everyone,
Recently the Shimano's R171 have caught my eye and I think I'm going to buy a pair. However, having read on how Shimano shoes size, I wanted to know some things beforehand. I'm usually a 42.5 or 43 EU / 8.5 or 9 UK size regarding normal shoes and was advised to go at least one size up when buying Shimano in general. The thing is, I've read conflicting reports about this particular shoe, with some people claiming they went half or even a full size down.
Anyone the same size as me? Should I go for a 43 or a 44?
Sorry if this was already covered, I searched but found nothing on how the R171 fit.
Thanks in advance!

I am 45 and bought '45 wide' and fits me fine
rt82, on the other hand, is tight at 450 -
General advice on shimano shoes is go up a size and I've found this spot on on the three pairs I've bought over the years. No experience of those particular shoes though.0

I have the R171 in 45. I have also worn Sidi in 45, Giro in 45, Gaerne in 45 and Fizik in 44.5
I find the R171 quite roomy actually, bigger in most areas than the Sidi Wire in 45.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Thanks mamil, it seems that the wide model stays more true to one's actual shoe size. I've read that the thing with going up a size with Shimano's is mainly due to the shoe width, which explains it.Arthur Scrimshaw wrote:General advice on shimano shoes is go up a size and I've found this spot on on the three pairs I've bought over the years. I meant trainers. Thanks.0

I find that the UK/US sizes are inconsistent and I know that I am a 43 in EUR sizes and therefore buy according to that, which for me has been true for both my Shimanos and Giros.0

I am a size 10 UK / 45 in my R171 shoes plus my other shoes, whether they be trainers or other forms of footwear.0
