Alternative to L2P

secretsamsecretsam Posts: 5,039
So: guy at work wants to set up a serious ride for Charideeeeeee

He suggested something challenging, say 3 days @ 100 miles

Doesn't want to do L2P, as he's done it - any suggested alternatives?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Tour of Wessex springs to mind, otherwise maybe some form of stretched out coast to coast

London to Edinburgh too far, but maybe London to Newcastle? or Lands End to London?

or London to Amsterdam via Bruges & the Dutch Zeeland Islands?

Well there are the two Coast to Coast in a day options http://www.opencycling.com/coast-to-coast-in-a-day/ I'm signed up for the northern one.

If you haven't picked a charity then you could consider Durham to Edinburgh over two days for Renewable World. It's a small event and great organisation. http://renewable-world.org/events/earth-wind-and-tyre/

My colleague has been pushing this one at me. I think he's mad. https://londonedinburghlondon.com/

Wessex is a good event too, really easy logistics.

Funnily enough we did look at Amsterdam. And I would love to see Bruges

Bruges is very disappointing... full to the brim of tourists and smells of fried chips pretty much anywhere you go... maybe in winter is better though, with fewer people around.

I lived in Amsterdam for 2 years... the obvious period to cycle in Holland is early April, to wander around the tulip fields of Lisse
