I was hoping they were going to release it on iOS. I'm currently still out of action with a knackered back, so I'm going to need something to get me fit again over the winter.

I know what that's like :(. I was going great over the winter on Zwift then after a few weeks outside my back started playing up badly and I'm only now starting to get back to anything approaching normal, but still a long way off.

I hope the iPad/iPhone thing takes off, as Zwift is a platform that needs a lot of riders on the course at the same time, hopefully if people can use their existing equipment rather than having to buy a gaming PC (I mean, who has a gaming PC?!) then so much the better.

ANyone got any idea when this will be publicly released? Still weighting up a new iPad vs a cheap gaming PC. New iPad is preference but if it's going to be another couple of months I could be tempted elsewhere...

Assuming it's basically impossible to say.

    good
  • Yeah feedback I've seen from testers is very positive. They've said they are aiming for November but I guess it could be before but it'll be a big deal so they will likely be cautious.
  • What is Zwift? Why do it? Is cycling outdoors really that bad?

Because this is the indoor training sub forum.
  • Does anyone know when the public release for iOS is happening?

Those that have tried it on an iPad does it run as smooth as DCRainmarker states?

    Cheers

It must be, because I have never seen you out at 5am on the road in the dark doing a 32 mph lead out for a sprint .... Or getting spat out the back of a pack and having a couple of riders drop out to pace you back in, or training cadence drills, intervals, hill climbs with 20 other people

Early November reportedly. I haven't been able to try it myself but I've seen people who have who say it does run smooth. I've no idea what difference the different processors make.

Ok sweet, I have an ipad air 1 which is supported, also a 6S which i could airplay to my tv in the garage.
  • I'm guessing the Air 1 is going to be the best bet so it's right in front of your face. You can then still use your 6S to run the mobile link app.

Yep, now need to decide on the turbo. Tacx Flow T2240 is currently winning it with BC discount at £180. I know its entry level compared to my standard Elite Volare Elastrogel turbo but it should offer more benefits.
  • I would that at that price it's worth a try!

My ipad is a 4th gen so not supported. Checked my laptop and it appears to have 8gb ram and graphics says something like Intel (R) graphics 3000 which googling appears to have been enough to run Zwift at a minimum though I suppose that may have moved on since those results.

Think I will give it a go with my existing PC - it was a mid range machine in 2013 so wont be a disaster if I have to upgrade it and my eldest was complaining her laptop is out of the ark so it this one wont be wasted as it can replace hers. A new ipad would be nice but for what I use it for the 4th gen still seems fine.
