I'm thinking of getting a first mountain bike and don't really know too much about what i m looking for. It would be for general blue and red trails.
Is 27.5 or 29 the more appropriate wheel size?
any opinions on either of these bikes?

I think the wheel size may be quite important actually. It should depend on your height as well, if you are a taller person, you should favor 29".
Here is a nice review about wheel sizes: http://www.competitivecyclist.com/learn/27-5-vs-290 -
Height has nothing to do with wheel size as it doesn't change the size of the frame.
The Fuji you linked to is a good price for the spec for a 29er. The Vtus has no damping in the fork so should be avoided.
Either wheel size is fine for blues and reds (though how tough they may be depends on where you ride), the Suntour XCM is a very entry level fork, if you can spend a bit more to get a better fork then it will last you longer before you get frustrated by its poor performance.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

Thanks for the info! There seem to be a lot of fuji's on chainreaction heavily reduced, i m thinking of maybe spending a bit more and doing cycle to work for it.
Would this vitus be better? the fork seems to mention dampening0
