Bossnut Riders

Hey guys,
Thought i'd open up a thread and see who else got themselves a Boss.
have had mine about 2 weeks and am loving it. Upgraded tyre's and a dropper, and fitted Nano-x pedals from the get-go from my hardtail and haven't looked back.
Bit of tinkering with the pressures in the fork and shock to get it just so, already contemplating changing the Monarch R to something with a bit more adjustment, but thats for later in the year!

It's not the simplest site to post photos on. and all Bossnuts look the same as there's only one colour choice.
I normally do about 50 miles a week on mine, using Strava I've set some quick times on local green lanes. I'm 5th on an uphill cyclocross section. Although the fastest time is 3 minutes quicker.
For me, it could do with a lower gear ratio (as I have one or two steep tricky climbs) and a better rear shock. But everything else is great.
PS I've added a dropper post, a bend into shape front mud gaurd, and ditched the tube adding sealant to go tubeless.0 -
Good point on looking the same! I have changed the tyres and grips though.
Which dropper you gone for Dave? I'm looking at changing up to a LEV 125mm soon, currently got an eTen 100mm, and haven't got around to tubeless yet. Did you need rim tape or just the valve?Bossnut - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13069531

I put a rockshock on it. I used a stans kit. But replaced the rim tape for 25mm gorilla tape. Works well. I have a 26 er than I made tubeless using the bmx inner tube way.0

This is a bit of a rubbish bike thread. Not a single photo. Are your bikes that ugly?Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Hehe I know, my photos are on Google Drive. Sharing them on this site is just a pain in the ......Had to move them from Google Drive to PhotoBucket then get code to drop here. There must be a way to display them straight from Google drive?0 -
Very artistic photos. I found Llandegla black extremely disappointing. Should be graded blue, it's not even close to being worth a black grading.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

At Llandegla there are three different routes, Blue, Red, and Red with the odd Black bit tagged on. I don't know enough of what should be a black, I just like putting the miles in off road. I've been to Cannock several times, but dislike the sand paste grinding though the bike. I should really try East Ridge more.0

A black trail should involve features which take commitment, such as gap jumps and drops or technical sections.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

Yeah it's not that aggressive, think they have kept it within safety margins, to cut down on H&S paper work lol.0 -
Should be graded blue, it's not even close to being worth a black grading.
It's about on par with every other trail center black, you've always got the freeride section if you want non-rollable features. Not a fan of Llandegla but that's not fair criticism.
Thread needs more photos!0 -
It's easier than Afan, Cwmcarn, Brechfa, Forest of Dean, Whinlatter and Grizedale red trails.
Blade at Afan is only graded red and I'd say that's a good step up in difficulty from Llandegla black.
Bikepark Wales blues are more technical, the blacks are on a whole different level and still a step down from black downhill trails, like the ones at Gawton, Revolution or Antur Stiniog.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
What? no mention of Stile Cop at Cannock Chase,

Bike parks aside, no different to Cody Brenin, Penmachno, Marin, Gisburn , Lee Quarry, not been to Whinlatter for a while but didn't strike me as any more technical either, you saying there's non rollable features at Whinlatter?
Used to be a 3 foot drop at the end of the freeride at Llandegla but it was removed due to too many accidents.0 -

Last time I was at Llandegla someone was having a ride home in an ambulance, they were being collected from a fire road at the bottom of an indicated Black run.
Image if you just let anyone loose on this run, you could probably build a hospital at the bottom of the run.

Taking out features because people don't have the skills to ride them is wrong. They should be left for those people to work up to and for those with the skills to enjoy. Bike Park Wales got it right with qualifying features at the start of trails. It's really disappointing when I go back to a trail that I've previously enjoyed to find all the big, fun features are gone.
Black trails shouldn't be inclusive for everyone. They should be tough and they should be kept for those with the skills to enjoy.
I also enjoy rock climbing. There are routes which would be certain death for me (not an exaggeration) but I don't want to chisel holds in to them. If I want to get up them I'll train for them. For now, I'll leave them for others to enjoy.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
So True.
