Recoveries between intervals.

Quite straight forward, how long should recoveries be between intervals.
I know sprints are normally different but I've been told after doing a interval say 6-8 minutes long then your recovery should be half the time.
For example 8 Minute hard effort=4 Minute recovery.
Seem to be burning my self out a lot during turbo sessions but I don't think I'm giving myself enough recovery time.

I would suspect it depends on the intensity of the interval. I sometimes do 5 minutes on 1 minute off but these are at threshold. Sprint ones 20 secs on 40 secs off X 5 then several minutes rest.0

If you have a programme of intervals through a season, for example "every Wednesday is a high-intensity interval session", to get maximum benefit from them you need to gradually reduce your recovery time each week. You might even start with 1:1 ratio, and depending on how long the intervals are and how many weeks you plan to repeat them, reduce each week to end with something extreme, like interval:1 min - interval:1 min etc . Your final one should appear pretty extreme compared to your first one.Dolan Titanium ADX 2016
