Words like decent and cheap mean different things to different people, what is your budget? Also at age 11 it is possible that she may fit a small adult bike, which gives you more options depending on how tall she is.

Not as cheap as the Decathlon but worth considering

On the same site Paul Milnes also has a road/cross bike on offer for the same money. Single chainset with 9speed 11-34 cassette. It also benefits from disc brakes

Some idea of what you define as "cheap" would be helpful.

As suggested above - have a look for a 2nd hand models and avoid being tempted to buy some of the low end gas pipe offerings

    Decathlon.

Thats what I used for my kids.

Another tip is to go for a full size wheel - but very small frame - I picked up 2 such bikes in the classified section of this forum.
Im sure you know - but don't buy them a bike to grown into....

Its one of those situations where she is showing an interest so i want to encourage it, but don’t want to spend a fortune for to say she isn’t interested in 6 months time.So im Looking at about 200 , so happy to go second hand but really don’t have a clue which brands to look at. i think the posts above help... Cheers guys

Like I said earlier - and like kingrollo also said, depending on her height, you might not need to go for a 'kids' bike. In that sense, any 'brand' could be an option. Not that brand really matters.

Couple of other possibilities from Boardman at Halfords.

    Flat bar style junior bike

I bought one of these for my granddaughter who is 11, like your daughter. She had previously been riding her brother's MTB so I opted for the flat bar option so that she would not be too freaked out. It's actually a quality bit of kit with a triple chainset and 7 speed rear cassette. She's had it now for 4 months and is delighted with it.

If you're more inclined to the proper road bike set up then Boardman also do this offering:-

Double chainset (48/34) with a 7 speed rear cassette. It's a 43cm frame so down at the XXS end of the sizing.

Both of these are under £250 and excellent value. I think they may be end of range offerings but I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I bought one of these for my 11 year old.

For the money (and got another 10% off), it's a good beginners bike.

I picked up a 48cm frame Triban 3 in Decathlon for my 11 year old at the weekend. Apparently they have a few in they kept back for warranty claims. A bargain at 150 quid, he's well happy with it.
