Rear Derailleur
Rear Derailleur went bang at the weekend and I'm trying to get to the bottom of why.
A few months back the chain kept slipping from 1 of the jockey wheels in the rear mech causing the chain to drag between the jockey wheel and mech cage. It didn't jam though.
Having had a quick inspection of the mech the jockey wheels seemed quite worn (mech had done approx 8-9k miles) so I assumed this was why the chain was becoming unseated and replaced them with new ones.
All seemed to be working well up until this weekend where the chain appeared to be slipping from the jockey wheel like before. End result this time was mech jamming and a snapped hanger.
I had a look again and one of the jockey wheels showed a lot of scoring where the chain has been slipping for a while and I just haven't noticed.
Why would it have been doing this?

What do you mean - went bang ?
Did the jockey wheels come loose ? Was it still keeping tension ? Still changing gear OK ?0 -
Sorry. Jammed up bending the rear hanger. Trying to move the mech out of the wheel the hanger snapped.
Gear changes were still spot on and everything was intact prior to jamming.0
