Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc 2016 vs Specialized Crosstrail Disc 2017

Hi again,
just wanted to get some of your opinions on this. A bike shop near me is selling a 2016 Specialized Crosstrail Sport Disc for 550eur (was 700eur before discount) and the 2017 Specialized Crosstrail Disc for 600eur - both of which are priced same as in any other shop.
Looking at the specs, the 2016 Sport model has slightly better Shimano parts. But I'm new to all of this so maybe I'm missing something that they imporved for the 2017 model?
So which one would be a better buy in your opinion?
Thanks!

Why that? I've seen a lot of people on various forums owning Crosstrails and Sirrus models and being generally happy about them.0 -

The 2016 is terrible for the money, the 2017 is worse - regressed to 8 speed? Both have rubbish forks and bottom end components.
Not mountain bikes anyway, but as RMSC said, lower end Specialized tend to be terrible deals as you're paying half the price for the brand.
I think this was suggested in another thread

I personally don't really see that big of a problem with the 8-speed thing tbh.
Yea I've seen it before but I still want to go over other options as well0 -
Ok rubbish forks and bargain bin components, whatever speed.I don't do smileys.

That Specialized has a fork which is actually much worse than a rigid fork and it's a very heavy bike.
I can't see anything positive going for it.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
