Bit of a newbie to cycling, looking for a move from my hybrid.

Been thinking about the two bikes, CAADX 105 Disc or Diverge ELITE DSW 2017.
(Looks like Specialized have changed the gear on 2017 model!)

Or is it worth stretching to the CAAX Ultegra?

What do you all think?

At current reduced prices the CAADX offers amazing value. I'd maybe even be tempted to save £250 and go Tiagra. Tiagra is good enough, and you really don't need 22 gears on a cross bike. Can put the £250 towards a better wheelset long term.

    Thanks.

Also just seen the Trek Crossrip 2, which also feels like a nice bike.

Probably need to just pick one now!

I'm very biased, as I bought the CAADX 105 (for £850) and they let me keep the discount through C2W. An amazing deal as the bike will cost me about £520 altogether.

Pleasure to ride and a cracking frame. I will be upgrading the brakes to hy-rds, and when there is the deal on Pro-lite Revos I'll do that as well. However it is perfectly fine as it is and the pro max brakes are better than any previous rim brakes I've had so will do for now. I have however taken the tyres off and replaced with pro4 Endurance 28s - much better and gives a nice smooth silky ride while also feeling the road at the same time (bit like a 350z as a driving comparison - you feel everything, but it isn't wearing).

    Now really confused.
rode the specialized crux sport and really loved it and it was on offer at £900, also tried the Whyte Suffolk both of which seemed to ride better than the Diverge comp I tried at the same time. As they had shimmano 105's.

I'm concerned that I may end up with 2 similar type bikes as I already have a specialized sports comp?

I may have done the deal there and then on the crux if it wasn't for the shop wanting to charge me extra £100 and take back the discount on pedals and shoes for having it on the C2W scheme! I was a bit miffed but not sure if that is normal?

It's up to the shop. But Evans let me have my CAADX 105 for £849 on the scheme.

Depends which Crux I guess. For £900 it sounds like it might be the Sora version. So, upgrading not awfully cost effective, but Sora is pretty good now. There's a Tiagra also 10 speed. And then there's the SCS issue, so if you want to upgrade the wheels you need a new gear hanger.

  • Deed has been done.

I did ride a lovely Diverge Comp, at a nice price but was too small.

I have ordered the Diverge Elite DSW :-) cannot wait.
