New advice bike to replace stolen Decathlon Rockrider 8.1 and upgrading a groupset

Hi,
So a few months ago my Rockrider 8.1 was stolen
I am absolutely gutted.
It was an amazing bike so I have been back on Decathlons website to get a new one but I have noticed they no longer do any of their bikes in a size Small anymore.
I am a 5'3 female and a medium will be too big.
I have noticed they now do a womens specific mountain bike

But the specs just arnt as good as the 8.1 I spend most weekends cycling the south downs. I do not need an AMAZING bike but I would like something pretty decent that can handle being thrown around a little. I love going at speed down dirt paths and over tree roots.
I was thinking about getting this bike and upgrading the Groupset. I have seen used sets in really good condition on eBay for about £150.
So my questions are:
Is this bike any good?
Is upgrading the groupset on this bike a good idea to make it pretty decent?
How much (roughly) is the labor cost in changing the whole groupset.
I have about a £500 budget. Less would of course be better. Maybe this bike will be good enough for what I want without doing anything too it?
