Hi everyone,

A newbie here. Recently purchased a Cube Attention 29er. I'm getting the upgrade bug a little bit (I'm not desperate to spend money, just keen to make a few wise choices).

Here's the spec as it currently stands:

FORK
Rock Shox XC 30 TK Coil, 100mm, Remote Lockout
HEADSET
FSA No.10, Semi-Integrated
STEM
CUBE Performance Stem, 31.8mm
HANDLEBAR
CUBE Rise Trail Bar, 700mm
GRIPS
CUBE Performance Grip
REAR DERAILLEUR
Shimano XT RD-M781-DSGSL, Shadow, Direct Mount, 10-Speed
FRONT DERAILLEUR
Shimano Deore FD-M611 Downswing, 31.8mm
SHIFTERS
Shimano Deore SL-M610, Rapidfire-Plus
BRAKE SYSTEM
Shimano BR-M355, Hydr. Disc Brake (160/160)
CRANKSET
Shimano FC-M523, 40x30x22T, 175mm
CASSETTE
Shimano CS-HG50, 11-36T
CHAIN
Shimano CN-HG54
RIMS
CUBE ZX24
FRONT HUB
Shimano HB-M3000
REAR HUB
Shimano FH-M3000
TIRES
Schwalbe Smart Sam, Active, 2.25"
PEDALS
CUBE PP MTB
SADDLE
CUBE Active 1.1
SEAT POST
CUBE Performance Post, 27.2mm
SEATCLAMP
CUBE Varioclose, 31.8mm
WEIGHT
13.4 kg

I'm a big guy, with a lot of weight to lose. If there is anything that might wear too quickly, or be vulnerable, or just anything I should be concerned about the strength of, please let me know.

I will be riding around family trails, usually fine gravel in Herefordshire / FoD.

For now, I am concentrating on riding as much as i can, plus increasing my collection of tools and maintenance equipment / fluids.

Best Regards,

Greenback

What does it not do that you want it to do?

Unless you know what you want you're not upgrading, just changing random bits.

My first change would be the tyres, as they'd be useless for my riding, but they are fine for hard dry conditions.
Bit rubbish in loose stuff or mud.

  • Thank you for the replies.

Ok, it sounds like my strategy of just getting out and riding is sound enough. I'll keep focusing on that!
